Welcome to Drag-n-Pick!

This is an interactive teaching tool designed for five to six years old preschool children.

The High/Scope curriculum defines classification as the process of grouping things together based on common attributes and properties.

Based on this definition, Drag-n-Pick aims to help children improve their cognitive skills on classification by enabling them to group objects in an interactive environment.

Drag-n-Pick has four sections:

•  Differentiating shapes

•  Differentiating colors

•  Matching objects

•  Complementing objects

In each section there are three classification tasks. The child needs to drag the picture which has a thick black border to the appropriate picture among other non-bordered pictures. If the chosen picture is incorrect or if the main picture is not dropped exactly on the target, the main picture will snap back to its original place.

When the child finds the correct picture, a dialogue box will appear for confirmation and pressing the OK button will bring the next page.

After completing all the three tasks in each section successfully, a feedback page will appear to congratulate the child. On that page, the child can continue to use Drag-n-Pick by clicking on any of the four pictures.

Here are specific guidelines for the person who is helping a child to use Drag-n-Pick:

Differentiating shapes
Task: Choose the item which has a different shape from the rest of pictures.
Guidelines for the helper: Ask the child to drag the object which has a thick black border to the correct target. Before proceeding further, you may want to ask the child to explain in what way the object with black border is different from the target which he/she has selected.

Differentiating colors
Task:
Choose the item which has different color from the rest of pictures.
Guidelines for the helper: Ask the child to drag the object which has a thick black border to the correct target. Before proceeding further, you may want to ask the child to explain in what way the object with black border is different from the target which he/she has selected.

Matching objects
Task:
Match similar items in terms of their physical place, functionality, type or use of field.
Guidelines for the helper: Ask the child to drag the object which has a thick black border to the correct target. Before proceeding further, you may want to ask the child to explain in what way the object with black border is similar to the target which he/she has selected.

Complementing objects
Task:
Find the object that complements the target item.
Guidelines for the helper: Ask the child to drag the object which has a thick black border to the correct target. Before proceeding further, you may want to ask the child to explain in what way the object with black border complements the target which he/she has selected.
