    One-to-one or small group lessons are available for all levels.  Even if you're an absolute beginner, I can get you started using the language immediately.

    Classes are tailored to your individual needs and level.  I teach an authentic and up-to-date Turkish which is currently being spoken in Istanbul.  How?

    For example, I went into a supermarket and experienced this cashier & customer dialogue before role-playing it with Hatice in the class.

    For another example, I prepared this map to use in our Cihangir Yoga classes. I also asked the people in the street for directions to Cihangir Yoga, and recorded their responses to use them in the class.

   My lessons focus on basics and directly relate to your actual learning needs in Istanbul. I've created my own lesson plans that are not only simple but also stimulating and creative. However, on the basis of eliciting comments, ideas and suggestions from the learners I adapt and modify the lessons to more effectively meet the specific needs of students.

    There will be homework to be studied and practiced every day to reinforce the learning in the lessons and to keep the students active.

    My teaching is not limited to the classroom - I encourage my students to contact me by email or phone whenever they have questions. You can read two examples of my emails.  You can also check out my postings on TurkishClass.com's forum.

    I record the content of the worksheets used in the classes so that you can practice them at home with correct pronunciation.

    Depending on where you live in Istanbul, I might be able to travel to your workplace or home, or we can arrange some other place to conduct the lessons.

    The first meeting is free of charge - no catches, no pressure, no strings attached! In this free introductory session:
  • We'll talk over a cup of tea.
  • We'll discuss your needs and expectations as well as what you want to learn and how you want to learn.
  • I'll get to see your level of Turkish.
  • You'll get to see a little taste of what and how I teach.
  • We'll decide whether and in what conditions we'll work (including our schedule, pricing and payment).


    Pricing

    My rate is between 50 TL and 100 TL per hour, depending on your requirements. The package includes custome-made lesson plans, telephone/email support and travelling.

    The difference in pricing mainly stems from the factors that affect how much time I'll have to spend for you outside of the classes. Sometimes I spend a few hours to prepare a single lesson through searching for the relevant information as well as writing and recording the materials. In addition to that, included in the package is telephone and email support. Group lessons require a little more time than one-to-one lessons, so for example, if I’m charging 75 TL per hour for a one-to-one lesson, I may ask for 40 TL from each student if two people want to join the same lesson.

    If you want my assistant co-teacher to participate in our lessons, the charge will be doubled. (If you prefer to have lessons with two teachers, please let me know before our introductory free session so that Hatice comes to the first meeting, too.) Working with two teachers is ideal especially for role-playing activities. Furthermore, if you decide to work with both Hatice and me, she will also take part in the process of preparation of your customized lessons. This can dramatically increase the quality of the lessons because collaborative lessons created by Hatice and me together come into existence with our brainstorming and evaluating the contents, homework, presentation, technique, and technique of the lessons.
